Brief BackgroundThe Beginning: Our Savior's Lutheran Church was originally created 140 years ago by a group of Danish immigrants seeking a place to worship.
Changes to the Building: In 1872, the original church was constructed on Torrey Street in Neenah. However, during the ministry of Pastor Helvig (1881-1887), the congregation decided to move the small church to a new lot on Isabella Street for $300. The Isabella Street church became too small for the growing congregation and in 1904, a larger church was built in its place. In 1954, the congregation decided to buy a new plot of land on the corner of S. Commercial Street and Meade Street, this is the present location of the church. In 2010, an addition was built on to the church. This addition included a new library, food pantry, lower level youth rooms, a media room, a music room, and seven offices.
Relationship to Neighborhood and Community: Our Savior's Lutheran Church has a strong presence in the community. They have numerous service and volunteer opportunities, organize mission trips to different parts of the country and globe, and perform weddings and baptisms to anyone who desires.
